Account-Based RevOps is measured in revenue, not vanity metrics. But which numbers actually tell you whether ABR is working? Here are the metrics that matter across acquire, expand, and retain, and how to report them. For the model behind them, see our guide to Account-Based RevOps.

Start with the account, not the lead

The first shift is the unit of measurement. ABR reports on accounts, not leads. Every metric below rolls up to the account so leadership sees the full relationship, not a pile of disconnected form fills.

Alignment and coverage metrics

Before results come coverage. Track target account coverage (how many of your priority accounts are engaged), account engagement (depth of activity across the buying committee), and data health. These leading indicators tell you the motion is actually running.

Acquire metrics

For acquisition, watch account pipeline created, win rate on target accounts, average deal size, and sales cycle length. Compared to lead-based demand, a healthy ABR motion should show higher win rates and larger deals on target accounts, even if raw lead volume is lower.

Expand metrics

Expansion is where mid-market revenue compounds. Track expansion revenue, cross-sell and upsell rate, and product adoption signals. If expansion is flat, your ABR motion is stopping at acquisition, which is the most common failure mode.

Retain metrics

Retention protects everything you earned. Track net revenue retention, gross retention, churn, and time-to-value. Net revenue retention is the single clearest scorecard for whether ABR is working across the lifecycle.

Efficiency metrics

Leadership cares about efficiency, not just growth. Track customer acquisition cost, CAC payback period, and revenue per employee. ABR should improve these over time as retained and expanded accounts lower the cost of the next dollar of revenue.

Avoid the vanity trap

Impressions, raw lead counts, and meeting volume feel productive but do not tell you if you are winning. Report the metrics above by account, tie them to revenue, and make them decision-ready. Want help building account-level reporting? Book an ABR strategy call.
